PING G410, Crazy Combo Sets, & More | Unique Clubs in Play
February 23, 2026
The PGA Tour made its annual stop at Riviera Country Club for the Genesis Invitational this weekend. Riviera brings unique challenges that always prompt a busy week for tour truck technicians. With that said, several unique clubs were once again spotted being played by some of the world's best players. Featured this week is more aging fairway wood models, a crazy combo iron set, and plenty more.
PING G410 SPOTTED
It's been seven years since the PING G410 lineup was released. Since then, the G410 hasn't caught on with tour pros quite like its predecessor, the PING G400 series, did. With that said, there's still G410 lurking in bags on tour. Matt McCarty is off to a hot start in 2026, recording a runner-up finish at the American Express and this weekend a T24 finish at the Genesis Invitational. The lefty games a PING G410 3-wood built with a Fujikura Ventus Blue 7x shaft. He's also one of many tour pros seeing the benefits of a 7-wood, gaming a PING G430 Max at 21 degrees. (h/t GolfWRX)
DENNY MCCARTHY'S WILD COMBO SET
As an equipment free agent, Denny McCarthy has a little more freedom when it comes to the equipment he chooses to play. That freedom is on full display with his iron set, which features four different brands. His combo set includes a Titleist T200 (2021 model) 4-iron, PING Blueprint S and Srixon ZXi7 5-irons, and a prototype Artisan cavity-back model in his scoring irons. It's unclear if both 5-irons are played at once or if he swaps them out, but nonetheless McCarthy has made himself familiar with many different brands to build his iron set. (h/t GolfWRX)
TOUR PRO GAMING A GT1 HYBRID?
The Titleist GT1 hybrids were primarily designed for moderate swing speed players seeking more speed and more launch. They have a bigger footprint than most hybrids, almost looking like a small fairway wood. Perhaps that's why Tom Kim plays one. The 3-time PGA Tour winner plays a 20-degree Titleist GT1 4-hybrid, which serves as the first metal in his bag after his irons. Kim is not the only tour pro to game a GT1 hybrid, but it's a rare sight. The trendy option for many tour pros to game the GT1 hybrids sparked the GT1 3Tour fairway wood model that was launched in 2025. (h/t GolfWRX)
FINAU'S AGING IRONS
Tony Finau is one of the most recognizable pros on tour, having been a staple of pro golf for nearly a decade. Coincidentally, he's been using his iron setup for almost that entire time. Finau games the original PING Blueprint irons, pure forged muscleback iron model launched in 2019 notorious for its tiny profile at address. Additionally, Finau transitions from his Blueprint irons to a Nike Vapor Fly Pro 3-iron, a club that is now more than a decade old. He and Brooks Koepka have each been gaming the iconic Nike 3-iron for the past decade. (h/t GolfWRX)
